Quotable Quotes

Filed under: Floating Turd, India — Tags: , — Raja @ 12:35 AM

A few collectibles from my recent trip back home (Kolkata):

kaahe na karoon? yeh prajaatantra hai bhai – hum kuchh bhi kar sakte hain.
Mr Pramod Jha, on being requested not to spit on the platform of a metro rail station.

My son don’t eat roti-chapati. You have tortilla (pronounced tor-til-la) no?
Mrs Sunita Agrawal, on being intimated the menu for the dinner.

I can’t wait to go back to Bangalore ….. heard that a new Taco Bell has opened there ….. Taco Bell, McD’s, KFC, Pizza Hut – man, is our economy booming or what!
Mr Aryan Basu, talking to fellow software engineers.

You have watched neither Paa nor 3 Idiots yet! What kind of pathetic excuse of a life you have?
Overheard in a party.

The Women’s (Reservation) Bill will make guys like that Shiney Ahuja pay for their evil deeds. (In Bengali)
Ayesha Khatun, talking to another house maid.

sab chalta hai yaar.
Heard everywhere.

    • Some people actually get angry after knowing that you may have missed some hyped movies. They feel you have missed an important part of Indian history!

  2. I’ve seen Paa. Not 3 Idiots. So where does that leave me? 😉

  8. These quotes are hilarious! I am still laughing about the tortilla and the Shiney Ahuja comments.
“Ayesha Khatun, talking to another house maid” — superb!
And I must mention that “yeh prajatantr hai” comment is pretty common. Funny how some people think that prajatantr means they are allowed to anything (any bad/evil thing) they want, and that they don’t have any responsibility for neither their own deeds nor anything else related to the prajatantr!
I will read all your posts now.

About your IPL comment: I like Sachin, too. Hope he can help India win the ODI World Cup this time.
