Toxxon, Tion, Sam, and Eric (Believer): Nice to know that you are holding the fort for truth, as well as bringing new info to this site. Cheers!

Raja: I read the updated BigCat in the beginning part of this site, and am very, very impressed with all the new information you have put in. You have apparently spent tremendous amount of time and effort on it, and many of us are grateful to you for what you have done. Keep up the good work! This site has increased the number of visitors by many folds since a year and half ago. And visitors are coming from all over the world! It is perhaps the site with the largest amount of reliable research on the subject of lion versus tiger. Congratulations!

Someone complained a while ago about the use of sources from the 1800s. That's very strange. Tigers and lions in the 1800s were not tigers and lions then? Old records are no good and not reliable? Newton discovered the law of motion in the 1600s, so we should avoid the use of his theory because it is too old? Give me a break!

I think lion is no match for Viscious Bengal Tigers, they are 50kg heavier and much faster than lions.

P.S. I really hope I get scads of negative ratings with my comment because I'd have to wonder about myself if such an asylum of vicariously violent net-dwellers LIKED what I'd said ;-)

Since accidentally stumbling across these kinds of moronic debates when researching a paper about predators, I have been morbidly fascinated by the sheer volume of presumptively literate people who engage in such discussions. Do you really give a hoot about such largely hypothetical and basically cruel confrontations? It's a throwback to the middle ages when the rude villagers at least had the excuse of isolation and ignorance.

How pathetic!

"The above comments are not meant to hurt anybody, TIGERS ROCKS, but LIONS ROCK SUPER"

@madLIONfan, To be honest with you your words do hurt as they are a personal attack to people with knowledge about wildlife and in particular wild cats. Lets get this clear - lions are not born to fight - No animal is. Lets be clear as to how the usual male lion fights. Whilst territorial male tigers will no doubt have less confrontations with intruding males than those of male lions, they will have to face them one on one and fight their battles alone - whilst most lion conflicts usually involve groups (sometimes up to 6 males) these confrontations more often than not end up with nothing more than intimidating roars being bellowed at each other, but when things do get nasty its usually the result of the group of lions with a numerical advantage chasing after and separating a single member from the opposing group.

As for the lion vs tiger argument, that would depend greatly on the subspecies of tiger and lion. Massive Bengal tigers from the edge of the Himalayas will have relatively little trouble dispatching any lion.

Also plz breakup this page since it is featuring over 3500 comments on a single page, the viewstate property is thrashing all browsers ( good for web site thorough testing, not good for users like us)

so please break up the page if possible, just 100 or 200 comments in one page maximum to save reader time and internet bandwidth

First of all thanks for such an informative and interesting blog with so many users commenting and trying to convince each other. I really enjoyed reading most of the comments.

In my comments I would like to say to people not to get personal in supporting their admired creature, cause we are humans, not cats, so it doesn't matter who wins or loose, Lion or Tiger, we must keep behaving like Humans after all.

I had no knowledge of my own, but from reading posts of various users, I come to know of the following points.

1.) Lions have all adult life fighting experience against LIONS, so they are definitely born to FIGHT AND KILL

2.) LIONS’ DUTY IS TO FIGHT FOR THE PRIDE OR DIE - SO THEY ARE MORE AGGRESSIVE AND STAMINA IN FIGHTS

3.) THEY HAVE PROTECTIVE AND ENEMY INTIMIDATING MANE WHICH MAKES THEM UNDISPUTED KING OF BEASTS

4.) TIGERS ARE SUPERIOR IN WEIGHT AND MASS, BUT THEY ARE STEALTH KILLERS NOT FIGHTERS

The above comments are not meant to hurt anybody, TIGERS ROCKS, but LIONS ROCK SUPER
